Create an anti-gravity galaxy in a bottle! Using baby oil, water, food coloring, and *glitter* you can create your own night sky, complete with billions of stars! Along the way, you will also learn fancy words like "immiscible", meaning, oil and water do NOT mix. That also leads to an opportunity to discuss density, and volume vs mass. Through this experiment, we can also cover topics like polarity and emulsion. This project also gets bonus points for doubling as a calm-down jar (covering emotional regulation skills) and generally being a crowd-pleaser.

Prerequisites

Kids under 8 will likely benefit from an adult's help.

Take Aways

  • Knowledge about chemistry, density, and polarity
