Is it good Technical Debt?
Tech Debt
Economic buyers tend not to want to rewrite working software -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Developers tend to cringe at an inelegant implementation, and complain until someone agrees to let them spend time on it just to shut them up. This talk tries to find some common ground between the two perspectives, and pushes for a more opportunity-cost based approach to valuing tech debt cleanup. Includes a simple mechanism for tracking the ongoing cost of tech debt.
Prerequisites
This talk should be fully accessible to non-technical adults, including parents or spouses, through the debt analogy / metaphor.
