Setting up Camp - How to get Started (Developing a new Product)
When you're about to launch a new product, or launch a startup, getting started is hard. Where do you start? How much do we build? What's the right design? What's the right architecture? All these questions and more can cause decision paralysis, or even worse - over-designing or over-engineering the product. You'll learn to prevent and recognize dreaded scope creep, you'll learn to say "No!" (really!), you'll learn to listen, you'll embrace failure (again, really!), and how to measure your progress. Kevin will walk through his trials and errors of creating new products, some techniques and resources that allow you to find the right approach with your budget, seek the feedback you need to iterate, while gladly embracing technical debt, half-finished features, and even smoke and mirrors. There is not necessarily a one-size fits all approach that you'll come away with, but using different techniques - that may depend on your skills, budget, and timeline will help you quickly get a product or even a "product" up and running that allows you get feedback from your key stakeholders.
